Once the Revit model has been created, Revit can produce a solar study for any time of the day on any particular date or a period study over one day on any particular date or over one year where required . The following example used Revit to determine the effect of overshadowing of an Apartment Block to the South on the roof mounted solar panels on a house to the North. This study was set for the 21st of March in 15min intervals from sunrise to sunset. Combined with other daily studies on different dates, set up in Revit, we were able to locate the solar panels, so as to minimise the overshadowing effect of the apartment block, over the peak summer operating period.
